Borealys Games, a new studio composed of industry veterans who have worked on iconic franchises like the Assassin’s Creed series, Far Cry, and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, has unveiled its new action-adventure game, Mages of Mystralia.

Mages of Mystralia is set in a lively fantasy world where the player is able to design their own spells. The game’s story is being written by best-selling author Ed Greenwood, creator of Forgotten Realms, and Dan Adelman, former head of indie content at Nintendo of America, is deeply involved.

Players will assume the role of Zia, a young girl who discovers she’s been born with the ability to work magic. Seeing how magic has been banned by the Marquis, Zia sets off on a grand adventure to train on her own in order to learn to control her magic abilities. During her journey, she comes across magical runes that can be combined to craft completely new spells.
