StarFox Zero and StarFox Guard Coming To Shelves April 22
Get ready for more StarFox!
During today's Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto came to us live from New York City to tell us Star Fox Zero is "finally ready."
Miyamoto states that it is a true action game that is more fun the more you play it, with the story and map structure completely new. There will be alternate paths in levels, such as Corneria, featuring a never-before-seen boss that allows you to return to the main map after defeating it. Once you defeat Venom in normal mode, new and alternate paths will appear.
There's a special multiplayer mode coming to StarFox Zero as well, where two players can get in on the fun. In a special two-player mode, one player flies the Arwing while one aims and shoots cooperatively or arcade to clear each level. You can also use your Fox amiibo to play as the Arwing from the SNES with additional bonuses coming as well.
There's also an additional game releasing that was seen at E3 last year called StarFox Guard, which you can use Slippy's new security system to ward off special enemies. You use 12 cameras in different locations to set them up and attack enemies over 100 missions. You can edit enemy placement and upload them online for others to play. You can play other players' creations or have others play yours to earn medals.
Both games will be available packaged together as a set. If purchased digitally they will be available separately or together for a package price. You can catch both games on April 22, 2016.

Damn I loved the original. Seeing it in running in a store blew my mind back then. It was like the most futuristic arcade game but you could buy it and bring it home. Played the shit out of that.
The N64 one didn't do that to me, it was good but nothing crazy for it's time. Games looked all like that or better at the time. I'm not sure what a great StarFox would look like now. But I agree with you, this one doesn't feel exciting yet. It feels to me the same as StarFox 64 did. It's probably alright. The controls might suck or not, the gameplay seems to be same old and they even seem to be making a reboot.
I wish they would have been less save with the game. Like include side scrolling or top down levels, include a level editor or procedural generated levels, some form of actual split screen coop or online coop. Whatever, do something interesting. -
