Humble Bundle feels the Force with new Star Wars bundle

The latest Humble Bundle is chock full of Star Wars goodness, including a second tier filled with four all-time classics.

March the 1st be with you!

Wait, it's not Star Wars Day? (Also I swear, I'm not intentionally stepping on Frozen Synapse creator Paul Taylor's ongoing Twitter bit! Really!) Well, it may not be Star Wars Day, but Humble Bundle is in tune with the Force today, thanks to its second Star Wars Humble Bundle.

Those looking to get into some of the more classic Star Wars games can pay a $1 minimum to pick up Star Wars Rebellion, Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance, Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter - Balance of Power Campaigns, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, and a 10 percent coupon for Humble Monthly. Paying more than the average tosses in four essential Star Wars games from across the ages with X-Wing Special Edition, TIE Fighter Special Edition, Knights of the Old Republic, and Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, along with a Humble Store coupon for 75 percent off any other three Star Wars titles not featured in this bundle. Paying a $9.99 minimum will include Star Wars Empire At War Gold Edition and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. All of these titles include Steam keys.

There's also a neat-looking T-shirt going for $34.99 and if that price for a shirt sounds hard to swallow, then just remember that proceeds from this Humble Bundle are going towards the Star Wars: Force For Change charity and UNICEF.

The Star Wars Humble Bundle II is set to run for the next two weeks, so find them over at Humble Bundle.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

That's a pretty damn sweet deal! More to come too, I wonder what they'll add.

Republic Commando and the Jedi Knight games would be the best bet. But I bet we wind up with The Force Unleashed or something.

I heard there were some issues with some of the xwing/tie fighter games. I don't remember what it was about, but it had to do with the difference between gog and steam editions.

Oh! Wasn't it the soundtracks? Like GoG has CD audio baked in instead of MIDI?

GOG has all three versions of X-Wing and TIE Fighter, the originals, the CD re-release considered the best blend of the two, and also the later Windows releases using the X-Wing Alliance engine.

Steam, last I saw, only has the original and Windows releases.

What version is this in the Humble Bundle/Steam? I installed it and I just see Special Edition (which doesn't work, I'll have to look into it) and classic. Are either of those the CD version?

Humble is a Steam key and double checking it looks like Steam is still limited to the 3.25" 1993/1994 releases of X-Wing/TIE and their 1998 Alliance engine rebuilds.

GOG appears to still be the only place to get the 1994/1995 Collector's CD releases of X-Wing & TIE Fighter digitally.

Wish they would bundle all the comics and graphic novels together. That would be pretty sweet.
