PlayStation VR launching in Fall 2016, says GameStop CEO
Sony is no stranger to launching their products after everyone else.
The PlayStation VR will launch this fall, according to GameStop CEO Paul Raines.
In an interview with Fox Business, Raines discusses GameStop’s preparation for the upcoming launch of VR headsets. During the discussion, he mentions a report from Goldman Sachs that said VR will be worth $80 billion by 2025.
Raines shares GameStop’s preparation for the upcoming boom in VR, while also letting slip PlayStation VR’s launch window. “We’re getting ready for it,” he says, “we will launch the Sony product this fall, and we’re in discussion with the other two players.”
We know consumers are ready for the PlayStation VR, but with Oculus Rift launching in Q1 and the HTC Vive expected to release shortly after, Sony is going to be playing catch up if they actually do plan on releasing their VR headset in fall 2016.
To hear Raines' remarks on VR, fast forward to about 2:40 in the following video.
