Sony has announced the formation of a new company, called Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (SIE) which will serve as the new headquarters for everything PlayStation related.

SIE will be headquartered out of the US in San Mateo, California and will join forces with both Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Sony Network Entertainment LLC, thus combining the strengths and talents of both companies. This formation is expected to create an even stronger PlayStation brand as there will be a bigger emphasis on developing future platforms, like PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, games from their World Wide Studios development teams, and network services like PlayStation Vue.

"By integrating the strengths of PlayStation's hardware, software, content and network operations, SIE will become an even stronger entity, with a clear objective to further accelerate the growth of the PlayStation® business," said president and global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Andrew House. "Along with our business partners, SIE will develop pioneering services and products that will continue to inspire consumers' imaginations and lead the market. We will work hard to maximize corporate value by coordinating global business operations across San Mateo, Tokyo, and London by leveraging local expertise."
