New Final Fantasy 7 Remake footage hits PlayStation Experience

Months after it was teased, new footage of Final Fantasy VII Remake was revealed at PlayStation Experience.

Earlier this year, Sony shocked fans with the reveal of Final Fantasy VII Remake. This year, new footage was revealed, showing off the game's stunning new visuals.

It should be noted that the trailer ended with the words "First on PlayStation," which appears to hint that this will not be a PS4 exclusive. We expect to find out more information on Final Fantasy VII remake soon. In the meantime, the PC port of the original game is available on PS4 right now.

Clearly the graphical fidelity of this is not the same as a mainline FF release, but they have always said it would be impossible to make FF7 to those standards given the scope of it.

i know some fans will probably be upset with that idea but i don't know if i would've bothered with anything else if it wasn't that

There was a lot left to the imagination with the limitations of the PS1. No facial expressions, very few polygons, no voice, almost no animation to speak of outside of combat. But it worked. My biggest concern was that having all those undefined things left to players imagination defined now would make it not work anymore, but all of that looked pretty good to me. Now whatever they replace the battle system with has to not suck, and this could actually be pretty sweet.

I am really happy its real time battle system, after playing Xenoblade Chronicles X l really want my FF games to be the same style and not turn base. Actually I am done with turn base all together, if anything add pause like DA if you want as turn base system.

Well... I think it looks awesome I am can't wait, am pumped.

Ok I re thought it over and I think you guys are totally right and I am wrong, here is why.

          - So we have FINAL FANTASY XV already which is a ARPG so why have two of a kind? It really makes no sense what so ever now that I think of it that FF7 is no turn based.
          - It be dumb to have two FF games that play the same, you guys are right.
          - I actually do like good turn based games but they have to be good I have given up on FF to make a good ones so that is why I said forget about it follow XV. I then thoguht of Battle Chasers: Nightwar.
          - I probably am on Xenoblade Chronicles X high and ARPGed JRPGed out of my mind and am not thinking straight :) so the influence is strong atm for anti turn base.
          - FF7 should just get new graphics(I really like the new stuff in the video its cool) and 100% be turn base don't spoil it.

On top of that I backed Battle Chasers: Nightwar on KS and it is turn based and looks like it owns so I am sure FF7 could of omened in turn base.

          https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1548028600/battle-chasers-nightwar/description

My one big beef with turn base is that its no seamless what I would personally like is a new turn base that takes place exactly where you are in the 3D world no transitions other than maybe slight camera angles. Also make it full freedom of movement when its your turn and the same for the enemy. This would be my pipe dream and ditch the transition style that plays not in the free play areas.

Now that I have thought it over I am sad its not turn base, all well what can you do. I wonder why they did it especially with XV? Really weird hey.

Second place? FF7pc on PS4 including a PS4 theme with Aerith's Theme as the background music.

Looks really promising, but I'm concerned that changing the game that much may fuck it up. It may end up feeling like a hallway crawl like FF 13.

What I was hoping for originally was more of a resident evil GameCube style make over, that kept the game almost entirely intact while spiffying up the graphics. Keep the same perspectives, etc.

I'll hope for the best, anyway.

I'm not seeing this. This looks pretty cutting edge in terms of rendering and effects etc. I'm not seeing why people are complaining. It's also fairly faithful to the design and overall look of the original game. It looks like they are striking a good balance here.

I've rewatched it and it seems like it's still active turn base but a hybrid. You take turns but positioning matters. Attacks, magic, items etc is still menu based.

        December 5, 2015 8:28 PM

Looks to me like hitting the attack command gives you the ability to go into a free attack mode but with a depleting action bar. Using the magic command would deplete it faster again, and summoning would be a one shot deal at your turn. If that's what I'm seeing here, I really like it.

This is what I want ^^^^ I am not a fan of old school transition to a fight interface I really love to stay in the actual area you ran into the enemies that would be BOSS.

Looks great. Only issue is seeing some of these side characters and not believing their roles due to the voices, realistic graphics, and behaviors.

I can't imagine how a lot of the cheeky humor will play out when it looks so real compared to blocky models.
