Nintendo reveals its 2016 lineup; The Legend of Zelda Wii U still 'TBD'
While we're happy to learn of the games Nintendo is planning on releasing next year, we really want The Legend of Zelda.
Nintendo has released its 2016 lineup of games for both its Wii U and 3DS, which includes a number of notable titles such as Hyrule Warriors Legends, Star Fox Zero, and Pokken Tournament.
According to the newly-released document, we should expect both Hyrule Warriors Legends and the recently-delayed Star Fox Zero to launch in Q1 2016, while Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam and Pokken Tournament should arrive in spring 2016.
Some other titles expected to be released some time in 2016 are Bravely Second End Layer, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright / Conquest, Metroid Prime: Federation Force, and Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
One game that is still yet to be dated for a 2016 release is the new The Legend of Zelda game for Wii U. We noticed its absence when Nintendo released its quarterly financial earnings report in July, and the title still has a “TBD” associated with its release. Even though this could mean Nintendo might not be able to deliver The Legend of Zelda in time for 2016, adding it to its 2016 release schedule still gives us hope the game will make its debut some time next year.

My thing is I think most third party games are dogshit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The defining feature of any platform is the software it has. If you're not into Nintendo games then fair enough. I personally think they're the only company outside of Blizzard and Valve that really nails polish and gameplay, so I'll happily buy what it is they have to sell me.
And FWIW, I think Splatoon is the most innovative shooter from any company in years. That it came from Nintendo of all companies is pretty cool/surprising.

It took the Wii U 32 months to sell as many systems as the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast was discontinued after 29 months.

Also I think the Wii U only sold more than the Gamecube once in the 35 months it's been on sale (June 2014, it outsold the Gamecube by about 10,000 consoles when the Mario Kart 8 bundle hit):

That is bad but remember that the Dreamcast was Sega's second dud in a row and they had no handheld or other businesses to fall back on. They had to either tough it out and hope they don't go out of business or hit the eject button and go software only.
Seeing what's become of Sega as opposed to what Nintendo is up to these days (Mario Maker) I hope Nintendo remains hard headed because I'd rather see them crash and burn than become the fart joke Sega has become.

they'll continue to try to avoid Osbourne'ing themselves any more than necessary but I wouldn't make any hard bets on big Wii U titles at this point. What's the upside of a Wii U Zelda game at this point compared to having something ready for the launch window of a new system? Of course that latter idea has more problems than normal if the NX is really some weird hybrid system and not your normal console power levels/architecture.

It'll probably be both and no to Star Fox. Just release it. Honestly, it'll probably be a good game, but nothing like the original or Star Fox 64. I'm hoping this delay really improves it. The speed of the game looked really slow in all the videos.
I suspect (and hope) NX will have a good launch because of the rumored titles that will likely get pushed to it or have a version of a game released for it. Everyone expects Zelda, you can bet on a Mario, there's a lot of rumors about Metroid from Retro. There's even rumors or F-Zero and HD remakes, specifically Twilight Princess. Who knows though.
