Square Enix has pushed back the release date of Hitman to March 2016.
Today's news comes from the Hitman website that points the delay at IO Interactive wanting to add more launch content to the game. The studio will be releasing "a good chunk" of Hitman when it launches in March 2016, and then will release remaining locations over a certain time period. The delay means not only can expect more launch content, but a tighter frequency of updates shortly after release.
"Moving a launch date is never an easy decision, we know it’s frustrating to have to wait a bit longer for the game, but we truly believe it will mean we can deliver a better launch and overall experience," a statement on the Hitman website reads. "We’ll share more details next week about the full release schedule and scope of HITMAN in general so keep a look out for that."
In addition to today's delay news, IO Interactive has released an infographic showing just how large Hitman is compared to Hitman Absolution. As you can see below, just one of the levels in Hitman is six times larger than the largest level in Hitman Absolution. The number of potential contracts has also increased substantially as well as other aspects, including challenges, accidents, and more.
