Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 and Yuri’s Revenge are currently free as part of Origin’s On the House promotion.
C&C Red Alert 2 was originally released back in October 2000 and tells the story of a more powerful Soviet Empire invading America. New York City and Washington, DC are completely overwhelmed by the power of the Soviet Empire as well as Allied forces.
The game offers two playable factions: the Soviets and Allies. Players will be able to experience two distinct storylines from the side of each playable faction. The Allies story focuses on pushing back the Soviet Empire from its attempt to invade the U.S., while the Soviets side shows its dominance over the Capitalist pigs.
Its follow-up expansion pack, Yuri’s Revenge, is also included in Origin’s On the House promotion. The pack continues from the Allies side of Red Alert 2 where they have repelled the advances of the Soviet Empire. A shadowy ex-Soviet figure named Yuri takes matters into his own hands as he creates a secret army of his own in order to once again attempt to dominate the Allies.
C&C Red Alert 2 and Yuri’s Revenge are both great real-time strategy games and are definitely worth the trouble of downloading. Just remember that Origin’s On the House promotion is only good for one month, so be sure to grab this offer sooner rather than later.

It's a maybe still slightly more responsive interface than Steam's standard interface, but it's difficult to tell these days. Regardless though Origin breaks a few OS conventions Probably the most obvious is that it fails to snap to the sides for split view.
Steam snaps, GOG's Galaxy snaps. Origin doesn't seem to understand. The only thing it responds to is Win+↑ though it doesn't actually maximize the window which is confusing. Of course Win+↓ doesn't do anything either, just like its siblings pointing to the left and right.
Also it the losing saved credentials between updates is pretty irritating as well.
But yeah, realistically, it's actually fine, it's just one more store to deal with, one that never discounts DLC.

Lag Fix:
Modify the RA2.ini file
Go to <path-to-game>
Open the RA2.ini file with Notepad or other text editor.
Under the [Video] section, add VideoBackBuffer=No to a new line.
Save the file and launch the game.
From: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Red_Alert_2
You can edit the res in the same INI. Runs beautifully at 1920x1200.

I think that's what killed C&C in the end, it was too serious. C&C3 was a step in the right direction especially with the casting of Billy Dee Williams. But that NOD campaign in it and the sequel sucked.
Red Alert kind of started out serious but it learned to have fun with itself. Which surprisingly was why I enjoyed the hell out of C&C Renegade. I would like to see them do Red Alert 4 and hell, EA can make a shooter set in Red Alert with you as Agent Tanya. With the amount of time traveling they do they can just make new versions of the same game rather than sequels haha.
