In the world of digital collectible-card games, it appears Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is the game to beat.

Blizzard’s Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft generates around $20 million in revenue per month, according to research firm SuperData.

At that rate, Hearthstone has become the most successful digital collectible card game and has even beat out some other successful free-to-play games, such as Valve’s Dota 2, which as of March 2015, makes $18 million a month. The game isn’t exactly a killer of MOBAs as League of Legends continues to be the game to beat as it rakes in $123 million a month as of January 2015.

According to SuperData, Hearthstone has around 8 million PC players playing per month, while it appears mobile is the platform of choice as over 9 million players play per month.

Hearthstone continues to release regular updates and new content as they announced its new Grand Tournament expansion will be available later this month. Pre-order bundles are currently available, and while you wait for them to become available, check out our breakdown of the cards that will be introduced in the upcoming expansion:

Remember back when Hearthstone launched and people were wondering what the point of it was? To give you a free WoW mount for playing or some shit?

      Yeah. Good times.

This is also a good reason why Blizzard isn't sweating the WoW subscriber numbers going down. They're pretty set right now.

It's amazing how they had nooothing else for those few years where they were scrambling to ramp up teams to support WoW. It's brilliant seeing them flex those creative muscles and mega bux in new ways again now that they've got the WoW support thing nailed.

How does that compare to physical ccg?

I hope they are reinvesting this back into the game to develop much needed features like replays, match history, more deck slots, tournament modes, a better spectating interface for the competitive scene, and a redesign of the ladder system.

Not surprised at all. The game is growing popularity by the month. I think in January they made 10m a month. Double the growth in 6-8 months is pretty remarkable.

Is 242 responsible for $19 million of it per month?
