Fallout 4 will not have a level cap

In a series first, Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 4 will not have a level cap, meaning the game can go on as long as the player desires.

It may be difficult to lay out plans for the new fall releases, since there are so many of them. But a number of players likely have "Play Fallout 4 until hitting the level cap and finishing the story" on their list. That list may need to be adjusted slightly if a recent tweet from Bethesda is any indication.

Yes, Bethesda confirmed on Twitter that there would be no level cap. Players will be able to continue leveling even after the main story is over, as well as continue participating in missions.

For comparison's sake, the most recent installment of the series, Fallout: New Vegas, offered a level cap of 30 for the main game and would go all the way to 50 through DLC campaigns. Fallout 3 started out with a level 20 cap, which was upped to 30 with the addition of the Broken Steel DLC. In fact, this will be the first game in the series to completely throw the level cap idea out the window.

Look for more on Fallout 4 in the coming weeks before its release. Fallout 4 will arrive on November 10.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
