Gamescom 2015: Star Wars Battlefront takes to the skies with Fighter Squadron
As promised by the game's Twitter account over the past few days, EA and DICE have revealed a new game mode for Star Wars Battlefront called Fighter Squadron.
As hinted on the EA Star Wars Twitter account, the team at Electronic Arts and DICE have unveiled a brand new game mode for Star Wars Battlefront. It's a 20-player mode called Fighter Squadron and it brings along some series favorite starships along for the battle.
By popular demand, it appears that dogfights will be a part of Star Wars: Battlefront, putting players in the cockpits of X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and even the Millennium Falcon. On top of the 20 player-controlled ships, there will also be 20 AI-controlled ships littering the skies, as well. The trailer also revealed the planet of Sullust, a previously-unexplored planet in Star Wars lore.
Check out the full trailer below. Star Wars Battlefront will hit PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in November.

Here's the thread where everyone else posted. I guess we did miss Ozzie's post about it.

I agree with all the sentiments around getting a new TIE Fighter game. Given the number of hours I put into the original TIE Fighter (and the others of that series) I don't think I can come up with a single game I'd be more insta-hyped for than TIE Fighter 2.
That said, this game mode in Battlefront looks fucking awesome and has basically sold me on this game.

nah, I like that there's gonna be some extras like this, especially because the vehicles in the normal modes will likely be limited, and there doesn't seem like a lot of weapon variety to the infantry combat.
Dogfight only maps and modes in BF were good for practice but got old fairly fast. The objectives in these could add some more depth.
