Microsoft released its latest operating system, Windows 10, to the masses yesterday. We’ve already explained how you can start your download without waiting for Microsoft’s upgrade notification, and today, we’re highlighting how you can play Xbox One games on your Windows 10 PC or tablet through the magic of streaming.
First, make sure to have an Xbox One controller setup on your Windows 10 PC or tablet since that’s the only way you’ll be able to navigate the console’s menus. You’ll then need to launch the Xbox app for Windows 10, which can be easily found in the start menu in the “Play and Explore” section. Next, you’ll need to sign into your existing Xbox Live account.
Now, head on over to your Xbox One and turn it on. This isn’t necessary in order to stream your games, but it’ll help the setup process. When you’re at your console, make sure both it and your PC are on the same wired or wireless network. Then, on the Xbox One, make sure “Allow game streaming to other devices” is checked in the Preferences section of the Settings menu.
With that, you should now be able to stream games from the Xbox One to your PC. If you have issues finding your Xbox One within the Windows 10 Xbox app, you might want to restart the application in order for it to show up.
If all else fails, just follow Major Nelson’s video below as he gives a pretty good explanation of how to make sure your PC and Xbox One can work together.
