The Coalition has announced Gears of War Ultimate Edition is coming to the PC.
The announcement was made during the PC Gaming Show at E3 2015, although no release date information nor the potential of a beta was mentioned. At the time of the announcement, The Coalition's Rod Fergusson was invited to discuss Gears of War Ultimate Edition during a segment where DirectX 12 games were mentioned as well as Windows 10. It was suggested the game would support 4K.
The last time the Gears of War franchise was made available on PC was back in June 2007. Gears of War 2 was actually in development for the PC, but it was cancelled by its developers citing poor sales of the original PC version as well as concerns with piracy.

Do you remember GFWL? Their attempt to make PC gamers pay for Xbox Live to play GFWL PC games online? I do. I also remember the original version of Gears for PC being a not-so-great port with control issues, very few options, and a ridiculously low FOV.
I'm cautiously optimistic given the announcement of Killer Instinct for PC (I don't care about Gears of War at all). But I'm not cutting them any slack until I see positive results behind this latest effort to support PC gaming. If you want a counterpoint to this, go look at that PC gaming love-letter Gearbox put out prior to Borderlands 2. THAT is how you let people know you're properly supporting PC, and they delivered on those promises when the game released.
