Mega Man Legacy Collection compiles six classic games on Xbox One, PS4, and PC
Capcom has announced the Mega Man Legacy Collection will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this summer.
Capcom has announced a new game that will compile a total of six Mega Man titles into one legendary collection as Mega Man Legacy Collection will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC this summer with a 3DS release expected this winter.
Mega Man Legacy Collection will feature Mega Man 1-6 in 1080p as well as a number of modern bonuses such as challenges, leaderboards, replays, and museum. The museum is packed with a visual history of Mega Man games that includes sketches and official artwork.
Developer Digital Eclipse is using its new Eclipse Engine to bring these classic 8-bit games to modern consoles and PC. The engine rebuilds the original games from their source elements, making them sharp and clear. “Movies have the Criterion Collection, but there hasn’t been anything like that for games,” said Digital Eclipse’s head of restoration Frank Cifaldi “We’re living in the golden age of a brand new form of artistic expression, and we’re not doing a very good job of making sure our games will be available five years from now, let alone fifty. The more we can do right now to take video game preservation seriously, the safer our history will be.”
Today's news just comes days after Capcom announced Mega Man will be getting his own animated series in 2017.
Mega Man Legacy will retail for $14.99 when it releases.

Experience Mega Man 1-6, games original developed for 480i resolution 25+ years ago, now enhanced for 1080p! See the entirely brand new engine designed exclusively for ports of these NES classics, because that matters somehow, on the next-gen current generation platform of your choice! Purchase the same games you have for the NES, the PS2, the Gamecube, probably several on the Wii Shop, your cell phone, and maybe other places..but now you can.....buy them again! Hey Square does it, and we fuckin' invented selling you the same game again and again with Street Fighter 2. No one horns in on our turf! Be careful or we'll make separate DirectX9, 10 and 11 versions and sell each as a different SKU.
Capcom: We're totally not broke and really struggling financially and creatively. We promise. Also, please buy Street Fighter 5 when it comes out.
At least you get 6, which means....Bio-Booster Armor Mega Man! -
As much as I love Mega Man, this news is disappointing. In 2004, Capcom released Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which included 10 games. Now, 11 years later, they're releasing another compilation... that only includes 6? They could do so much more, but they won't, because they're Capcom, and they can't miss an opportunity to keep charging separately for the bajillion other Mega Man games they could include in this collection.

Something along the lines of Mario Maker. They should basically copy and paste that shit, and let people build their own MegaMan levels. Create bosses, have some pre-set abilities and elements or something. All with the 8bit flair, or if they really gave a crap, a toggle like Mario Maker to bounce between 8bit MegaMan and 16bit Megaman X.

I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but Capcom stated they're aiming to make the emulation perfect, to achieve a sort of archival quality.

So if they really are putting this much effort into it, it would make sense that they're focusing just on the NES games and not the next four games which are SNES, PSX/Saturn, and Wii/PS3/Xbox360
