NVIDIA offers The Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight free with GPU purchase
If you're in the market for a new GPU, check out this promotion from NVIDIA, especially if you're planning on buying either The Witcher 3 or Arkham Knight.
If you’ve been pushing off getting a new graphics card for the upcoming release of either The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Batman: Arkham Knight, then you need to take a look at NVIDIA’s latest promotion. The promotion is offering both games with the purchase of a qualifying graphics card, which means you’ll be saving some serious dough if you were already planning on purchasing both anyways.
Only the GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 970 qualify for free copies of both Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, while a purchase of either the GTX 960, GTX 980M, or GTX 970M will only earn you a copy of the latter.
The promotion starts from today and will last until June 1 and is only available from participating retailers, such as Amazon, Newegg, B&H, and NCIX.
We know The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt should be worth upgrading your graphics card for considering just how beautiful it looks in both its trailers and screenshots, so this deal is certainly worth it if you need to upgrade your rig for the game. Throwing in a copy of Arkham Knight can be considered the icing to an already beautiful cake, so long as you’re in the market for either a GTX 980 or GTX 970.

They are getting scared of the AMD 300 series xD.
And im saying that seeing as these 300 series GPUs are going to be on the market no later than june 10, as some retailers are adding the 300 series cards as options when configuring a pc, for systems that are releasing at or around that date.
And those dates are too close for it to be an accident. But hey, Nvidia said the specs of the 970 were and accident and people believed them, maybe people will take the bait again and believe this is also an accident xD.
Appart from that, this is a good deal if you don't mind about getting a card that is going to be pretty much underpowered compared to the graphic cards that are coming this year from AMD, and later but probably not that long after, from Nvidia.-
Guess what- those cards that come out in a few months will be underpowered in a few months. Then those will be underpowered in a few months. And then those will be...
You can't be crippled by anxiety about your hardware being outdated. This is almost archville levels of assigning conspiracy and malice to ordinary business and marketing. -

One time I bought this sweet Black Ops edition of an NVidia card. It had the Black Ops skull on it and came with a Black Ops poster. Needless to say, I was totally looking forward to playing BLOPs. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the game or game key anywhere inside the box for the video card. I looked more closely at the fine print on the box, and it said it did not come with the actual game. :[

I tried to get them to send me a code given that I bought a card in the middle of April, and they said I would have to refund my existing card and re-order to fall under the new promotion. YMMV.
I'll probably have to call them to get them to budge, since the phone support tends to be more responsive to requests like that. -

I did mine on live chat.
I said: "I purchased this GTX 970 from Amazon less than 30 days ago, and today you launched a new promotion with nVidia to give an additional free game with the purchase. Since this was in the last 30 days I'd like to get the promotion applied to my order. Is this possible?"
Then
Amazon: Are you requesting a game code for Batman: Arkham Knight?
Me: Yes, that is correct
Amazon: No problem. A member of our Marketing and Promotions team will need to send the code being that you ordered it after April 1. I will forward this information to them, please check your email in 1-2 business days for the code from them.

I've been thinking of upgrading for a while but wasn't sure about the power adapters on the new cards. My current power supply (750W) has 2 6-pin connectors but most of the cards I looked at have at least one 8-pin connector.
I was looking at the Asus Strix 970 at the time and even contacted their support, and they said you shouldn't use the 6 to 8 pin adapters but I'm honestly not even sure if they understood the question. I've read mixed comments on using then elsewhere on the webs. Anyone have any experience with this? If it's possible is the Strix a decent card? Or should I look for a card that has 2 6-pin connectors?-

Thanks Freon.
Excuse my ignorance as I am so out of date on PC hardware, if I were to get the Strix (which I understand just has a single 8-pin connector) I would be go to go if I got an adapter like this:

This was the card I was eyeing earlier today at it had 2 of the 6-ping connectors, (which magically just jumped $60 dollars (D'oh!))
