Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Stronghold public beta launching April 14 for 24 hours
Guild Wars 2 will be able to check out the new game mode for themselves next week, although it'll only be available for 24 hours.
ArenaNet has announced Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Stronghold public beta will take place on April 14 at 12pm PT and will last for only 24 hours to all players in Western regions with a Guild Wars 2 account.
To prepare the incoming wave of public beta participants, ArenaNet will be hosting a “Ready Up” livestream on April 10 at 12pm PT. The stream will feature a special Stronghold boot camp that will help players become familiar with the new mode. The content won’t stop there as for as long as the public beta is going on, the Guild Wars 2 Twitch channel will feature non-stop coverage featuring ArenaNet developers and popular influencers getting a stab at Stronghold.
ArenaNet will also be holding a sale this weekend so new players can jump in on the public beta. Starting at 10am PT on April 10 and running through 11:59pm on April 13, Guild Wars 2 will be available for 75% off of its regular price, making it $9.99 through buy.guildwars2.com.

yeah no point for me.. I get ~320ms ping at best and there's jack shit going to be done about it. Any PvP is playable at 300+ ms pings arguments are valid, but you'll never be able to compete in upper level games and it just becomes an exercise in frustration when you can SEE the ping effecting your game play.

I wish.. China has their own servers which sound like they are run quite well.
I'm in West Australia.. actually I have a *good* link, but it's so far from everything and ANet doesn't give a fuck, pings of 300+ are avg here.
There was a forum post from a Singapore guy bitching about how he wouldn't buy the HoT expansion because of this ~210ms ping.. hah fuck I would love that.
Sadly because of the way GW2 is programmed it can severely impact PvE too. Anything that has an 'automated' movement effect completely breaks, like sanctum sprints 'Press 3 to zap over to that ledge' will ALWAYS send you flying past the end of the ledge. That’s pure slack programming/prediction code imo.
