New Nintendo 3DS XL sells 335k units in US & Europe
Nintendo has released some sales data regarding the New 3DS XL's launch in the west, and as you'd expect, it did very well for them.
The New Nintendo 3DS XL has been available for just a few days here in the US and in Europe, and today, Nintendo has revealed they have sold around 335,000 units during its launch week.
Nintendo disclosed how well its latest handheld sold in both regions, as the 175,000 units were sold in the US while Europe moved 160,000 units. In comparison, a total of 230,000 units were sold in Japan during its launch week.
In terms of software sales, Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate performed the best this week. Majora’s Mask 3D sold around 340,000 units in North America and 230,000 units in Europe. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sales in the US weren’t made available, although it did sell around 110,000 units in Europe.
Even though the New Nintendo 3DS XL sold quite well during its launch week, I'm curious to know if it would have done even better if it was easier to find the handheld without pre-ordering it across various retailers. Either way, the New Nintendo 3DS XL looks to be yet another hit for the company.
