World of Warcraft upcoming 6.1 patch adding S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera

World of Warcraft's 6.1 patch is hitting the PTR servers and set to hit the rest of the world soon. But first, LET ME TAKE A SELFIE!

The World of Warcraft public test realms (PTR) went down earlier today to prepare for a new build. Beyond adding some new character models, class tweaks, and UI improvements, that build will include some new social media integrations. And let no one say that Blizzard isn't on the cutting edge of what's "in" these days, because your World of Warcraft character will soon be able to take a selfie.

The S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera (first spotted by IGN) will allow characters to take pictures of themselves and add Instagram-style filters, giving players new ways to show off the characters that they've worked so hard to build over the years. The item can be earned by completing the 'Lens Some Hands' mission.

Other, more gameplay-focused, changes expected to hit include bringing balance to healer damage, buffing underperforming talents, new character models for Blood Elves, and Garrison quests for new visitors.

Expect the 6.1 patch to release to the public soon, after its stint on the PTR servers. For the full list of changes, visit Battle.net.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
