New Amiibo and Mario Party 10 Arriving This Spring
Nintendo has announced new Amiibo lineups to coincide with the release of Mario Party 10 this spring.
A new wave of Amiibos will be coming to stores in February, but beyond that, all new characters will soon be added to the growing collection this spring. Characters include: Lucina, Robin, Charizard, Wario, Neess, and Charzard. Additionally, starting March 20th, a series of Super Mario Amiibos will be available. This collection includes: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser and Toad.
The announcement of the Super Mario line of Amiibos is coupled with the reveal of Mario Party 10, which also releases on March 20 in retail stores and from the Wii U eShop. It includes 3 different game modes: Mario Party, Bowser Party, and Amiibo Party - the last of which will require having an Amiibo. Touching an Amiibo to the Wii U Gamepad adds the Amiibo as a game piece while activating a special board relating to the character. A Mario board, for example, might require eating a mushroom to suddenly grow, or collecting coins to defeat opponents. Each character has a special trait to make boards stand out. The game will work with the following Amiibos: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Rosalina and Wario. Super Smash Bros Amiibos will work with Mario Party, but you'll have to erase the data from it. Nintendo will also offer a limited number of special bundles, which includes a Mario Amiibo, from select retailers.
A full Amiibo and game compatibility list can be found at www.nintendo.com/amiibo/compatibility.
On a final Amiibo note, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will be updated on March 20 to support the Toad Amiibo. Tapping the Toad Amiibo on the Wii U Gamepad adds Pixel Toad to the stage, hidden, and waiting to be found like a hide-and-seek game.
