Harmonix releases first Rock Band DLC since 2013
Have you saved your plastic instruments? Because it looks like Rock Band DLC is making a comeback!
It's been almost two years since Rock Band stopped releasing new weekly DLC tracks. Today, Harmonix had a special surprise for those that have held on to their plastic instruments (like me), revealing three brand new songs to hit the Rock Band Store.
The following tracks will debut tomorrow, January 13:
- Arctic Monkeys - "R U Mine?"
- Avenged Sevenfold - "Shepherd Of Fire"
- Foo Fighters - "Something From Nothing"
"R U Mine?" comes from the Arctic Monkeys' most recent album, AM. "Shepherd of Fire" represents Avenged Sevenfold's first Rock Band track in several years from album Hail to the King. Finally, it wouldn't be Rock Band if there wasn't a contribution from Foo Fighters, so here's "Something From Nothing" from their most recent Sonic Highways album. The tracks will go for $1.99 a piece and are playable for both Rock Band 3 and Rock Band Blitz.
Why Harmonix picked now to seemingly revive the Rock Band Store is unknown, but it appears to be a positive sign that the franchise may still have some life in it. If this represents a return to the stage for Rock Band on next-gen consoles at some point in the future, we certainly hope they've read our most recent feature.

Yeah, it's definitely still fun for anyone to be able to pick it up and do pretty well. It just looks a lot cooler to have a bunch of real guitars hanging on your wall instead of a bunch of plastic ones shoved in a corner, under the couch, and with a plastic drum set taking up all of your closet space!
(I'm joking, Rock Band is good fun)
