Nintendo's amiibo now supported by third-party publishers
It appears Nintendo's amiibo is become quite popular as Bandai Namco has announced support for a number of figures.
Nintendo’s line of amiibo figures is going beyond the support of first-party titles as third-party publisher Bandai Namco has announced they will be supporting the toys in one of its recently released titles, One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X.
The news comes from the latest issues of Shonen Jump magazine by way of NintendoEverytying. The One Piece title, which was released in Japan on November 13, will support Nintendo’s amiibo by including the option of unlocking Nintendo-themed costumes for characters within the game. Luffy will be able to dress up like Mario and Luigi if their respective amiibo figures are used, while Sanji can don a Fox McCloud costume and Zoro can receive a Link costume.
Even though this feature seems to only be available in the Japanese version of the new One Piece Nintendo 3DS game, this is certainly an interesting step as we could possibly see more third-party support for amiibo. Hopefully more developers are willing to offer bonuses for amiibo owners, which would make them a more valuable purchase.
