There was a brief moment where Halloween looked to be in real danger. It appeared that the mad dentist, Dr. Orel White, had vanquished the holiday from Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Wii U. But the heroes at Double Fine have saved Halloween from this foul fate by announcing that Costume Quest 2 will indeed arrive in time for the holiday.

In fact, the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the long-awaited sequel are available right now. The Wii U version is expected to hit tomorrow, in time for the batch of weekly releases. The sweet news was delivered by Tim Schafer on Twitter.

Costume Quest 2 released on PC earlier this month, while the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions released yesterday. The stringent console certification process left the other versions of the game in question, which brought up the possibility that it would not make the Halloween holiday.

But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
