Bungie has finally released details on its first expansion pack for Destiny, The Dark Below, as well as a launch date of December 9.

The Dark Below will feature a number of new features, which include new weapons, armor, and gear as well as all-new story quests and missions to experience. New multiplayer features, which include new co-op activities, such as a new Raid and Strike mission, and three new Crucible arenas, will also be available. Guardians will also be able to reach Light Level 32, have the ability to take on ten Bounties at a time, and some additional “surprises” Bungie is keeping under their hats for now.

PlayStation owners will be given access to an exclusive Strike mission that takes place in the Black Garden, although Bungie has yet to disclose what exactly players will be doing within the mission.

A new character will also be available in The Dark Below, which unfortunately isn’t a new Guardian class, but instead, a new NPC will be popping up in the Tower. Eris will assist players by delivering new quests and missions for The Dark Below. She’ll offer unique bounties, rewards and help fill Guardians with more information behind The Hive.

Hmm, it doesn't say anything about a new raid yet. That had better be one of the surprises. About right timing too.. should be done with Sunset Overdrive and Halo: MCC by then. :D

There is a new raid. It's part of the "new co-op activities."

I'll make it more obvious in the news post.

Nope. Not good enough. 3 story missions? No new planet? 1 strike and 1 raid? And fuck that ps4 gets an extra strike.

I loved the game but I'm pretty much done now and I'm not paying $20 for this little content.

i don't understand why they made a distinction between raid and story mission. the raid playlist would be considerably better if it just had every story mission rotating through with matchmaking instead of playing the fucking archon priest three times in a row.

Really? I thought that was a good value. Most games make you pay $15-20 for just a few mp maps...

This is why I'm glad I don't play those kind of games. Give me Point Lookout and Miranda's Den-style DLC.

I will buy it if they learned their lessons and the raid comes fully functional out of the box.

Why does Playstation get a strike mission that Xbox doesn't? Thats lame

Because Sony has a deal with Activision for Destiny. They have a few weapons right now that the xbox doesn't have and some other random mission or two.

^ Sony invested in Destiny. Microsoft invested in Titanfall.

In this case, like every other bet Sony has made with the PS4, they made the right move this round.

Not sure what the point here is. You can play Destiny and Titanfall on Xbox. Just Destiny on Playstation. Are you saying a couple of strike missions and weapons is equal to a full game?

I'm saying that the Playstation is getting extra stuff for Destiny because Sony took a bet that Destiny would be a big seller. Microsoft took a bet that Titanfall would be the big seller.

I'm not equovating the choices, beyond point out that Sony's been coming out like bandits this generation with their choices. (No DRM announcement, $399 price point, etc).

it's all about the games (for the consumer and the company), and it seems general opinion is that the Xbox has the better game selection, even a year after launch.

If that were true, they wouldn't be getting killed in console sales. It might be the opinion of people arguing about it online (though I would disagree), but that doesn't match sales data.

I think right now the One has better exclusives (Sunset Overdrive, Halo 1,2,3,4 and Forza: Horizon 2, ), but the 3rd party games are better (graphically and performance) on the PS4.

Which is why I picked it this generation.

Think of all the reasons they'll give you to run the same content over and over and over!

I don't feel like it's particularly bad value but it's not great value either. I'm thinking about waiting until they release the second DLC. By then they should have fixed some of the real issues with the game, like purely random loot. I've run the raid like five or six times now and gotten one piece of raid gear. Forever 28.
