Halo: The Master Chief Collection goes gold; available for pre-download today
Xbox One owners are just one step closer to getting their hands on Halo: The Master Chief Collection as the game has officially gone gold.
It’s only just been a few short months since the general public has known about Halo: The Master Chief Collection and today, Microsoft and 343 Industries has confirmed the game has officially gone gold.
In addition to the title going gold, Xbox One owners will be able to pre-order and pre-download the title later today. Just be sure you have enough space on your standard 500GB hard drive as the game weighs in at 45GB with an additional 20GB expected at launch from an upcoming content update. In other words, make sure you dedicate at least 65GB for the Halos.
“Yes, the update is large, but we weren’t about to cut corners to save disc space,” according to executive producer Dan Ayoub.. “This ensures that you are getting every bit of Halo goodness we can fit in. Our work is not done, however, as we continue to tune, tweak and optimize the online experience to ensure a smooth multiplayer launch. This will continue right up until launch day.”
Those who pick up Halo: The Master Chief Collection will at least be able to enjoy the single-player campaign from the get-go as the day-one content update will include the title’s multiplayer portions. This should only be seen as bad news for those who previously planned on playing Halo’s multiplayer offerings as soon as the game was released.
