Shadow of the Colossus film adaptation gets a director
Yes, there's a movie coming. And there's an awesome guy who will be directing it as well.
While we patiently wait for The Last Guardian to (ever) arrive on the PlayStation 4, at least we have some good Team Ico-based news coming from another direction.
A movie based on the PS2 cult classic Shadow of the Colossus is in production, and the film just snagged the director that will bring the startling themes to life. Mama director Andres Muschietti will take the helm for the forthcoming movie, which will be written by Scott Lochhead.
Shadow of the Colossus has undergone quite a few changes since its march towards the big screen. Chronicle director Josh Trask was originally on board, and, at one point, the screenwriter of the disastrous Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, Justin Marks, was writing the story.
Said Michael De Luca, president of production for the film, "We knew we had our director once we heard Andy's take on the material – it was genius. The themes, characters and supernatural elements of the story have incredible international appeal with fans of the game in the millions."
There's no word on a release date, but Sony Pictures will be handling the production, with De Luca and Andrea Giannetti overseeing it.

Lochhead’s only produced screenplay to date is Hanna, but since that film’s release he’s kept busy with a number of other pictures. His current efforts include The Governess, a Warner Bros. project produced by Michael Bay, and The Age of Miracles, a sci-fi book adaptation for River Road Entertainment. -
