Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor gets more exclusive pre-order content for PS4
Ready to take on some Blood Hunters and Flesh Burners?
Today's Sony Gamescom press conference was chock full of information and reveals, most of which we got yesterday in our continuous coverage of the event. However, one vital piece of information that slipped through the cracks was the introduction of some new exclusive DLC for the PlayStation 4 version of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, which unlocks with a simple pre-order of the game.
Along with the previously announced Dark Ranger mode that includes a special character skin and Test of Power Challenge Mode, those who pre-order the game will also gain access to exclusive PlayStation Legion Missions, where they'll go head to head with two new kinds of beasts, the Flesh Burners and the Blood Hunters.
The description for both classes is as follows, courtesy of the PlayStation Blog:
The Blood Hunters are master assassins, dispatched at high value targets of the Dark Lord. They travel in packs, and can smell your blood on the air. Hide from them if you choose, but they will find you. Should you eliminate them you’ll earn the Stinging Blade Rune to aid in your fight against the mighty Uruk hordes of Mordor.
The Flesh Burners are a band of elite archers that enjoy nothing more than to hear the screams of their victims as they writhe in pain over an open fire. They’re masters of the crossbow, firing innumerable flaming arrows at their foes. Should you be able to take them down, you’ll gain The Black Arrow Rune.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will release this October for PS4, along with Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Pre-order bonuses and platform-exclusive content has nothing to do with customers, they're just a hand job from the publisher to keep their business partners happy. They're also fucking annoying and it's short sighted habit of publishers that confuses and annoys their customers, doing longer term reputation damage to their brand.

I just buy everything new from Amazon now anyway, because I have Prime and it's easy. I decided to stop worrying about which bonus comes from where a while back once it finally became clear how useless most of them were, especially for games where it's often just a few pieces of gear that are irrelevant after a few hours.

yeah i don't have time or energy to care anymore. especially with these type of games where you know there's already going to be more than enough content. missing out on some "exclusive quest" doesn't really bother me. look at Watch Dogs. none of all that ridiculous BS retailer/platform exclusive content made a damn bit of difference to the core game. i could see getting upset if they were like "to see the true ending of the story, you need to get the PS4 version!!!" but that's not happening.
