Destiny beta played by 4.6 million
The Destiny beta hit 4.6 million players, which Activision boasts is the largest of this console generation so far and the largest ever for a new franchise.
The Destiny beta has wrapped up, which means it's time for the requisite boasting. Activision announced today that 4.6 million players participated in the beta, making it the largest of this console generation so far and the largest ever for a new franchise.
To be more exact, the beta had reached 4,638,937 players by the time it closed Sunday evening. Pat yourself on the back if you were one of them, because without your involvement it would have been a mere 4,638,936.
"We were totally blown away by the number of people who played the beta," said Bungie COO Pete Parsons, in the announcement. "We surpassed even our own goals and the feedback was invaluable. We cannot thank the community enough, the response was humbling and in the weeks ahead we'll be working hard to ensure that Destiny lives up to the expectations at launch."

That doesn't necessarily mean guarantee. For example call of duty a huge franchise and from my group of peers not a single one is going to buy the new version of the game. I'm not speaking for millions but many people get tired of the same game. In sure it will still sell millions though as new generation of kids are getting into the franchise for the first time but people like me who has been with it since the first call of duty I'm done.
