No discount for The Last of Us upgrade
Pay $50 like everyone else
If you played The Last of Us on PlayStation 3 and you were hoping for an upgrade discount on the PlayStation 4 version, bad news: Sony has ruled it out.
PlayStation EU Blog manager Fred Dutton (via Game Informer) gave a frank answer when asked: "Alas, there is no upgrade discount." That's the European arm of Sony, but the same likely applies to the US.
Naughty Dog had previously said it was "looking into" a discount, in a statement that was also issued on the PlayStation EU Blog. The studio and Sony ultimately decided to cut the price by $10 across the board, whether you owned the PlayStation 3 version or not. Given that sign, another discount on top of it seemed unlikely.

I have a short gaming attention span, very limited time (I have a 2 year old boy), and other games I'd rather play and take that limited time.
Plus I have this thing that annoys my gaming friends where I'll be all about a game until I get stuck, then I basically give up and move on to another game lol.

Yeah, I don't know what price would make me want to buy it again (I only played about 2 hours worth on the PS3 version), but it would probably be more in the realm of $10. I'm not even looking for more enhancements, I'd rather just have it on my PS4 since there's a lot more room on the hard drive. I have a massive backlog on my PS3, and I can only fit Dark Souls 2 and FFX/X-II on it right now.

oop accidental wtf ... there was a video showing them side-by-side:

though the ps3 one seems to have been blurred a bit, strangely. They list the changes as:
- 4x texture res
- 2x shadow resolution
- better draw distance, lod
- better lighting
- better models (they use the cutscene models in-game now)
- 1080p60 -
