Pokemon Delta Emerald trademark filed by Nintendo
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were announced earlier this month, but a new Nintendo trademark indicates that Delta Emerald may soon join them.
Earlier this month, Nintendo revealed that they would be remaking the Game Boy Advance classics Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire under the titles Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. However, the third title in the third generation of Pokemon games was just as memorable and now it appears that Pokemon Emerald may also be receiving a 3DS remake.
Gematsu (via IGN) is reporting on a recent Nintendo trademark made public today. The trademark (originally filed on May 2, less than a week before the Ruby/Sapphire remake reveals) is for "Pokemon Delta Emerald," which follows the same pattern of outrageous titles as its third generation counterparts.
Though Pokemon Emerald is considered very similar to Ruby and Sapphire, it is notable for making some subtle additions to the formula. Among them was the debuting Battle Frontier, which challenged players to topple difficult AI trainers for in-game prizes.
A third remake has not officially been announced, but Shacknews has reached out to Nintendo for comment. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are set to release in November on 3DS.
