Disney Infinity '2.0 Edition' to introduce Marvel characters

A teaser trailer for Disney Infinity "2.0 Edition" teases the inclusion of Marvel characters by prominently featuring Captain America's shield and using a tagline reminiscent of The Avengers.

Disney has given the clearest indication yet that Disney Infinity will be introducing characters from the stable of Marvel superheroes. A new teaser-trailer for the game, notably posted from Marvel's YouTube account, shows the trademark shield of Captain America bouncing around the cartoon world of Infinity.

With the tagline "Get Ready to Assemble" blatantly lifted from The Avengers, it really couldn't be any more clear-cut. The title reveal at the end calls it the "2.0 Edition" of Disney Infinity, though the trailer isn't entirely clear on whether that means a new retail release. This lines up with a report from February, which also stated that the recently acquired Star Wars franchise would be making its way into Disney Infinity too.

I assume this will be able to use the existing base, but will need a new game purchase. Which is just a money grab because they could the same with DLC unless they're needing to fully rev the engine to do something.

i guess i'd be okay with that as long as the game is around $40 or they have a nice bundle, but yeah i doubt this couldn't be added to the base game as DLC.

Given what Disney paid to acquire Marvel, yes... that is precisely the idea.

Mickey should be Han, given Minnie is Leia. Just sayin'.

Well, I don't think they've ever said what relationship they are. And at one of the parks they have separate houses... so if you go by that, then the Luke/Leia relationship maybe they are brother/sister?

Mickey and Minnie have always been portrayed as dating/getting married. It started way back in the black and white original cartoons.. Mickey was always doing stupid things to impress Minnie and Minnie was always duly impressed.

They're not new -- those things have been for sale at Disneyworld (and probably DLand) since Star Tours started.

yep. Definitely at Disneyland. They are one of the best sellers at the parks IIRC.

If you get upset about dumb Star Wars crossovers you must not have been paying attention in the 70s and 80s.
