Warner Bros. has issued a release for its latest venture into J.R.R. Tolkien's world. Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor will hit PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on October 7. The publisher has also revealed the pre-order goodies that will be available to early adopters.

Shadow of Mordor pre-orders will come with the Dark Ranger bonus pack, which features a darker Talion character skin and a 'Test of Power' challenge mode, which pits players against Sauron's Captains. Those players that emerge victorious will receive Runes in order to give their characters a headstart. They'll also receive access to the exclusive 'Test of Power' leaderboards.

Shadow of Mordor puts players in the role of Talion, a ranger that has lost everything, but finds himself brought back to life by a mysterious vengeful Spirit. The game follow Talion's quest for revenge, which you can get a taste of with the new trailer below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I hope this turns out to be something special, but it's honestly looking pretty "last-gen" both in graphics and gameplay. Not sure I need another grim-dark anti-hero who is out for revenge via a stylized murder spree.

It kind of sucks it's straddling the line between current and last-gen. :/
