Kinect for Windows v2 hardware revealed
Today, Microsoft revealed what the final retail version of Kinect v2 for PC will look like.
Microsoft plans on releasing a Windows PC version of its updated Kinect sensor. Originally developed for Xbox One, the new camera employs an entirely different capture tech that promises better accuracy than the first-gen Kinect. Today, Microsoft revealed what the final retail version will look like.
The PC version of Kinect doesn't have a fancy name and will simply be called "v2" when it releases. As revealed on the official Microsoft blog, the PC version may look identical to the console version, but it drops all Xbox branding, simply saying "Kinect" at the top.
The camera will have its own power supply which connects to a hub. The camera will connect to PCs via USB 3.0. While there's no official date yet, Microsoft says they are "getting closer and closer to launch."
