God of War 3 creative director Stig Asmussen has left Sony Santa Monica. Asmussen had been involved in God of War from the beginning, and following the departure he is now reportedly interviewing at other studios.

Sony confirmed Asmussen's leaving to IGN following a report from unnamed sources. Asmussen began as an environment artist in the first game, then rose to art director and creative director. He was not involved in God of War Ascension, however, as he was said to be working on a separate project. Recent layoffs at Santa Monica could have impacted that project.
