PlayStation 4 hits 6 million following Japan launch
PlayStation 4 has hit 6 million units worldwide, following its launch in Japan. Sony also shared updated statistics on Twitch usage with the device.
Sony has announced that cumulative worldwide sales of PlayStation 4 have now surpassed six million units, giving a better idea of how it performed in the company's home country. It had sold five million just ahead of the Japanese launch, and this latest figure is two weeks from that point.
The PlayStation.Blog post that provided the number also shared some new Twitch statistics. PS4 has been home to more than 3.6 million Twitch broadcasts, and 56 million spectate sessions. It also stated that 20% of daily broadcasters on Twitch have been PS4 users, meaning the similar stat from December wasn't a mere fluke. Finally, Sony says that 100 million "shares" have been captured using that function across Facebook and Twitter.
