Destiny wasn't always a FPS
According to technical art director Ryan Ellis, Destiny was actually exclusively third-person before switching back to more familiar territory.
Bungie's Destiny may look a lot like Halo, especially with its first-person perspective. But that wasn't how the game started. According to technical art director Ryan Ellis, the game was actually exclusively third-person before switching back to more familiar territory.
"We actually were at one point third-person only," he told Game Informer. However, "we wanted to make a kick-ass action game, and we decided first-person was the right place to do that."
But as the latest video on GI shows, the game still incorporates various third-person elements. "There is some third-person elements in the game still. That's important for gameplay, and to show off your cool moves and the cool armor you get."
