Bugbear's Next Car Game now in Early Access
FlatOut creator Bugbear may have failed earlier this year to Kickstart its next crash-happy racer, which imaginatively is still codenamed Next Car Game, but hasn't given up. The game today launched an Early Access version, letting people pre-order to start playing while Bugbear finishes development. To tempt people into pre-ordering, the dev has also released an updated version of its technology test sandbox, which lets players smash cars into pretty little pieces.

The Early Access version of Next Car Game contains three cars and two tracks, showcasing smashing racing and a straight demolition derby. You can pre-order the game now for $25, which is $5 cheaper than it'll be when finished, to get a Steam key.
It's still early days, mind, so Bugbear warns it "does have a truckload of missing features, nasty bugs, choppy performance and can generally just leave a sour taste in your mouth."
In November, Bugbear launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking $350,000, but cancelled it after three weeks, having raised only about a quarter of the goal. Not having a name can't have helped.
To check out Bugbear's fancy car-crushing tech, you can sign up for the newsletter on the official website to download a limited version of the 'Technology Sneak Peek 2.0.' The full tech test contains oodles of ways to destroy cars, buildings, and goodness knows what else, but some are disabled for the free version. Here's a peek at the sandbox's crushers, cannons, and giant mechnical spider:
