The upcoming Diablo 3 expansion, Reaper of Souls, will be available on PC and Mac on March 25, Blizzard has announced. And of course, there are a few limited editions you can pick up, in addition to the standard release.
Reaper of Souls will introduce a new playable hero: the Crusader. In addition, the expansion will bump the level cap to 70, while introducing new spells and abilities for players to take advantage of. The expansion will also add a new "Adventure Mode," bounties, and "Nephalem Rifts," fully randomized dungeons that can be replayed for loot.
"With Reaper of Souls, we're taking Diablo 3 back to its darker, deadlier roots and also giving players a new way to experience the game," Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said in a release.
The Standard Edition of Reaper of Souls will be available for $40, while a Digital Deluxe Edition will be available for $60. The special edition will include an exclusive helm, spectral hound minion, three additional character slots, a World of Warcraft in-game companion pet, and a set of StarCraft 2 Crusader-themed Battle.net portraits and Malthael-themed decals.
If you prefer to buy things in stores, the retail-exclusive Collector's Edition includes everything from the Digital Deluxe Edition and a hardcover art book, behind-the-scenes Blu-ray set, and a mouse pad. This will be available for $80.
If you're not interested in picking up Reaper of Souls at all, a free update near the launch of the expansion will still introduce new features to the base game, including a revamp of the game's loot system, an expanded Paragon progression system for max-level characters, and expanded social tools via Clans and Communities.
