Spelunky daily challenges now on PS3 and Vita
Spelunky Daily Challenges are now available on PS3 and Vita as part of the latest update, for all you leaderboard hunters/masochists out there.
One of Spelunky's most beloved features on PC has been the Daily Challenge, which generates a new set of levels everyday for high score hunters. Oh, and you only get one shot at it, so there's a real sense of satisfaction to topping a Daily Challenge leaderboard. This addictive aspect of Spelunky is now available on PS3 and Vita, so now those players can get in on the daily action, as well.
"When [publisher Blitworks] heard about this new mode, they couldn't wait to implement it on PSN," said creator Derek Yu on the PlayStation.Blog. "That's one of the great things about working with them--they love their work and relish the technical challenges of doing an awesome port. It's right in line with the spirit of Spelunky and the spirit of the Daily, which, as you may have guessed, you can now play on PSN as part of this update."
The Daily Challenges are available now as part of the most recent Spelunky update.

I'm pretty sure Derek Yu talked about why, but I can't find that info right now. Something to do with the 360 lacking support for new leaderboards each day like this natively. He chose Steam originally for this feature because it was easy implement and he didn't have to create and host his own leaderboard system for it. Even the GOG PC version has no Daily Challenge support.
