The industry is getting stale. New hardware isn't going to change that. I haven't seen a lot of examples of the new tech leading to innovative gameplay. Mostly just better lighting and LoD.
It's all good though, there are still good indie games from time to time and there are still tons of games made between 1983 and 2006 that I want to play.

Killzone Shadowfll is already sitting on my game shelf. Gonna pick up Knack as well. Excited it has coop.
Resogun also looks fun.
I have BF3 on PS3 and will pay the $10 to upgrade.
Kicks the shit out of Wii/360/PS3/Wii U launches . Dono what people expect . This is a pretty stellar launch compared to last 4.-
Wii was different because it had the new control system as the launch gimmick anyway, so you had Wii Sports and Wii Play to get used to motion controls, Red Steel as a first look into motion FPS (which then never got followed up, but I still maintain Red Steel was an epic game just from what it showed was possible. If you got good at wiimote+nunchuck, it wasn't mouse+keyboard but it was infinitely better than dual analogue), and then Twilight Princess. It was a really fun launch.
Wii U was like.. play Nintendoland for a day, play NSMBU for 3 days, gather dust.

Unless it gets really bad reviews, I think I'm getting Knack. Ass Pirates is kind of interesting to me as well because I haven't played an AC game since the first one.
Flower, I never played this and I'm very curious and Resogun has some decent buzz. I think I'll definitely have enough to keep me busy for a few weeks until something else comes out. -

I loved Perfect Dark Zero on 360 though. Wasn't perfect, got pretty hard near the end, but it was a great co-op game that actually gave both players different things to do. The one level that hit home was the one that had one of you covering the other with a sniper rifle up in the rafters for a whole mission, which saw you taking different paths. Up until then I had never played a console game that not only allowed players to be so far apart but also gave them different but equally important tasks. The multiplayer and wacky weapons were fun too, especially the camera-guided lazy missles that you could see were chasing you by their smoke trails. People dog on PDZ so much these days but I thought that game was a great launch title, and it was definitely DIFFERENT!
