And yet another PS4 launch game bites the dust. DriveClub, a PS4 racing game from the developers of MotorStorm, was supposed to be ready in time for the console's November 15th launch. Instead, it has been delayed to "early 2014." That includes the free PlayStation Plus version too.
"The team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision--and I'm fully confident the game will surpass your expectations," SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said in a comment today.
Speaking on the PlayStation.Blog, Yoshida defends the current PS4 launch lineup, which also recently lost Watch Dogs. "PlayStation 4 gamers will have no shortage of titles to play this year. At launch alone, we have Killzone Shadow Fall, Knack, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, FIFA 14, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Battlefield 4 to name but a few, as well as the incredible list of indie games coming to PS4."
Because DriveClub was supposed to be part of the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection at launch, it will be replaced by a new game: Contrast. However, DriveClub: PlayStation Plus Edition will eventually be part of the IGC when it's available.

At this point, I'm unlikely to do either. The more I think about it, the more I realize my PS3 has at *least* another year left in it, possibly more, depending on what 3rd party stuff is still to come (I still suspect Persona 5 will hit PS3, and not next-gen, much like Persona 4 hit PS2 after PS3 launched).

What's your source on numbers? I just looked on vgchartz (I know, I know) and it has FM current gen at 13.5 mil, GT5 alone at 10.5 mil, and GT5 prologue at 4+ mil. I'd agree that my original claim was not strictly correct, but I'd still call that pretty close (and obviously GT will pull ahead in the "current gen" once GT6 is out, though I think this is getting into a silly semantic pissing contest and I was just trying to disagree with Forza being the 'dominant racing sim' this gen, which I stand by)

From what I've played of Forza 4 and GT5, these are the strengths of each:
Forza 4:
- Car damage visual effects and cosmetic decals
- Tire traction physics
- Synthesized engine sounds (though they still sound cartoony and inaccurate sometimes)
- Arcade-drive any car
- More approachable career mode campaign
GT5:
- Soundtrack consisting of actual songs from actual artists
- Momentum physics model
- Fully customizable controls
- In-car instrumentation accuracy and loyalty to the real car
- Data logging mode for graphing physics aspects such as power output, steering, momentum, etc.
Forza 4's "half framerate on the rearview mirrors" bug drove me crazy; it made me not want to use my rearview mirrors because they looked out of sync with the rest of the scene. Also, I get really really sick of listening to the same 5 or 6 dubstep songs while driving.
