As Nintendo continues its tentative steps into a scary new world where video game consoles are connected to the Internet, it's announced plans to release DLC for Pikmin 3. New challenges for Mission Mode are coming as paid DLC, and the first arrives today.

$1.99 will get you four new 'Collect Treasure' stages.

"A second round and additional offerings will come at a later time," Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said in today's Nintendo Direct presentation.

Iwata also revealed a Pikmin 3 patch is coming today, which adds another new Mission stage free for everyone, and also makes the highest scores in Mission leaderboards clearer. You'll need to download this update before you can buy the DLC.
