Grand Theft Auto 5 is going to be massive. And its online multiplayer will only make it bigger. New details from Game Informer magazine reveal exactly how big Grand Theft Auto Online will be.
According to Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies, there are over 500 missions. Some will be playable single-player, but others will require teaming up. And although there are hundreds of missions to choose from, only relevant ones will be surfaced first. "The game analyses your playing style as you play and surfaces missions that appeal more to your style," CVG reports.
Missions involving particularly large teams will open up a lobby window. From there, team roles can be assigned, such as sniper, look-out, and transporter. The crew leader can also tweak settings for the mission, such as time of day, weather, difficulty, and the number of lives.
Eventually, when you have enough cash to purchase a "high end residency," you'll unlock even more missions. Specifically, you'll be able to set up heists like the main campaign.
Grand Theft Auto Online doesn't ship with GTA5, however. It'll be available in October.

There's no way it's not, the game took 5 years to develop. They can't release a GTA 6 for next-gen in a short time frame. The game will be out within a year maximum. Thanks to the new architectures, we should expect to see less port time between PC/Xbone/PS4 releases going forward for all companies.

Really can't assume that. It's a genre and style of game many PC gamers would appreciate. And the modding scene around GTA4 would embrace it as well. Rockstar has said it wasn't technically or developmentally or financially viable at the time, but they had just laid off a bunch of people at the studio who created RDR after the game shipped. And I'm sure other projects took precedence for those who remained.
I know it's not going to happen. I'd still buy the game for a third time if it showed up on PC. Those shootouts on horseback would just be so much more fun and natural with mouse control. I've played them all possible ways on the PS3 and 360, lock-on aim, expert aim, and both abstaining and abusing the dead-eye stuff. None is as satisfying as a mouse would be. Multiplayer would be a totally different experience as well.
But really, I can't think of another game that simply deserves to be seen at resolutions far above 1280x720 and without all the other technical hiccups present in the console versions. Maybe in the future they'll do a re-release for the next gen systems like they did for Bully (originally PS2 only) on the 360, and it will finally come to PC then as well.

The game will be content complete, and the series is a PC staple. Porting it to the new x86 consoles at the same time just makes a lot of business sense, but it's not a guarantee. They'll get lots extra sales from not a ton of extra development. x much more than just doing the standard PC port.
They'll also be able to use that experience to learn some of the ins and outs of these new systems without spending another 5 years before they release anything on the new platforms. I'm not sure they're going to create an all new engine that would require a small scale test bed like Table Tennis again, they're just going to keep upgrading and refining what they have.
They'll be able to push more detail and at a more stable framerate on the new systems, too. It's not like it won't sell. Lots of people who already bought the game will buy it again.

Rockstar has no reason to bring GTA 5 to next-gen, at least not for several years. The 360/PS3 install base is MASSIVE. We're talking hundreds of millions. Compared to that, early adopters will adopt PS4 and X1 at a snail's pace, and most gamers will stick with current-gen consoles until next-gen systems build up meaty libraries.

Jeez, this game. This is a conversation which happens at Rockstar in my imagination:
"Hey, bossman, we have so much awesome, we don't know what to do with it.. I mean... we have awesome just like spilling over the sides and making a mess on the floor... WHAT DO WE DO WITH ALL THIS AWESOME?!"
"Hmm, yeah, that's a lot of awesome. Ok, lets make the game bigger and more detailed, that should help spread out some of the awesome."
"Still too much"
"Ok, I got it. Put a bunch of awesome over there in a pile and throw some netcode at it. Make it ONLINE AWESOME! People LOVE online awesome!"
"YES! That's a great idea! Online is a perfect place for all this left-over awesome. We'll get right on that!" -

So that means it's confirmed to be shit?
I'm talking more about the physics. I'm sure the swing mechanics will be competent but even a series like Tiger Woods where golf is all they do can't get that right after dozens of games.
I'm not expecting a sim or anything, but I can't see it being anything but terrible.
Tennis at least has some correlation with the Table Tennis game from them, but with everything else it could still turn out to be a garbage addition in the end like billiards, bowling, or darts in GTA4. Horseshoes in RDR, etc.
