Battlefield 4 may not be out yet, but that doesn't mean EA can't start teasing the game's extensive DLC. A new video from DICE--one which continues to use "Levolution" as if it's a real word--ends with a few seconds of footage from the upcoming "China Rising" pack.

"In this sprawling expansion, players fight for dominance across the vast and majestic Chinese mainland in four massive multiplayer maps, using all-new vehicles and high-tech military equipment," EA said of China Rising. It's due December as part of Battlefield 4 Premium, but you can also get it free by pre-ordering.

The large jungle environment certainly reminds us of Crysis a bit. But, in classic Battlefield fashion, it appears jets will be involved somehow. And we're going to guess levolution as well.

It just pisses me off to even hear about DLC before the game is out. Wtf am I paying for, an incomplete game? I guess you can get it by preordering, but jesus christ...

You are paying for a complete game. The DLC is an expansion.

Canadian Shackers: If you preorder at Futureshop or BestBuy, they are selling the Limited Edition at the Same Price as the normal version. The limited edition looks like it included Premium

LE is usually the limited run at the beginning where you get DLC and stuff packed in and is almost always the same price. In this case it looks like all new copies (limited editions will likely be all you find at first) will have that china rising DLC included.

they don't have LEs for PS4 or Xbox One :o

Oh I don't know it just says
Pre-order Battlefield 4 online and receive a "China Rising Expansion Pack" code.
Pre-order Battlefield 4 online and receive the Battlefield 4 Premium Expansion Pack DLC.

So I assumed Premium Expansion Pack DLC = the Premium content.

they should just charge $100 for this game right off the bat and be done with it.

Isn't that what they do with the season pass thing? $60 for game, $40-60 for DLC prepaid

DICE are no longer an impressive studio. Sure, they've got a hoard of fans, just like CoD has - and both of them cater to young teens. Their game is no more boundary-pushing or special, it's a generic, wattered down CoD inspired bore. Battlefield 3 was terrible, nothing like anything which Battlefield previously was - drastically less content, crappy maps, small maps (guess they still impress the CoD which they lured over, though), no teamplay (again, just enough to impress CoD nerds), terribly dumbed-down flight mechanics...
DICE is dead, so is Battlefield.

The market is over-saturated with similar games, but that doesn't make the series any less awesome. Saying BF3 was "terrible" is just plain wrong unless you're referring to the SP campaign only.

Battlefield is still more like battlefield than COD - make no mistake. It's not going in a direction that I agree with (which is why I have shifted to Planetside 2), but please don't boil BF 3 / 4 down to "generic, wattered down CoD inspired bore". It still derives more of its inspiration from traditional BF than recent CoD games.

Well, they are quantifiably smaller maps. Less content is a bit iffy, unless you include the excellent mod content (Like Desert Combat), or ship-to-ship movable content.

Crappy maps is certainly wrong. The maps in BF3 are amazingly detailed and lovely.

battlefield is ruined by nostalgia. shit wasn't as good as you remember it being.

i agree, remember hit detection on battlefield 1942? it was absolute shit. it was still an amazingly fun game. but thats because of different reasons. nothing like that had been done before.

by the time bf2 was out, they stepped up the quality of every aspect, but they still had the hit detection issues (although much improved) and various menu/gui style bugs and glitches.

bf3 was just polish on top of the old formula, i agree some things were shrunk down, and getting rid of proper voip and commander was annoying... otherwise the game was polished as fuck. and bf4 lolls to be fixing those issues, so im all ears

there were people with 350+ ping when 1942 was out. hit detection has improved greatly as broadband latency and packet loss continue to be managed and improved.

battlefield is most definitely NOT ruined by nostalgia, once you compare it in the vacuum of the entirety of the infrastructure that served it. it didn't even have proper widescreen support, as there were no widescreens. let's remember how old it really is and how great it was appropriately.

i think you misunderstood me. i mean, BF hasn't gone downhill - it's always had quirks and issues and it's not as good (in comparison to BF3/etc) as it's remembered to be. it's always been great. but BF2 isn't some amazing landmark vs. BF3. BF3 does plenty of shit BF2 did not do or did horribly.

It's plain to see from all the videos that have been cut to crap that this game is just an over hyped bf3 expansion. The only thing that would give them the edge would be if they drastically improved the physics engine. They're very careful not to show any collisions in these trailers because they haven't improved on it since bf1942. Ever try to drive the EOD bot? wow, just wow.
