EVE: Valkyrie coming for Oculus Rift
EVE Online developer CCP showed off a prototype multiplayer space-dogfighting game for Oculus Rift in April, but at the time shrugged, "God knows what we'll do with this." Thankfully the answer is the one we'd all hoped for: it's becoming a full standalone game, as EVE: Valkyrie.

The folks who prototyped it as EVE-VR have moved over to CCP's Newcastle studio to finish the game, IGN reports.
"From the moment this year's Fanfest attendees first got their hands on EVE-VR, the question has been, 'When can I have this?' What started as a passion project by a small, incredibly talented group of CCP developers became one of the most highly anticipated games of the year - before we even announced it," CCP CEO Hilmar Petursson said.
"We have big plans for EVE: Valkyrie and I can't wait to share more details later this year," the big tease added. EVE: Valkyrie is due on Rift in 2014. Look, look at this video game:

I really don't like the UI principles in EVE, it feels more like using a software application than playing a game. They've been making baby steps in the right direction with things like the radial menu but I've wanted to be able to properly pilot ships in EVE since it launched 10 years ago but they've made it clear on many occasions that that will never happen. It goes against the basic design and goals of the game they've said.
