Fable Legends will have players return to Albion, 400 years before the events of the first Fable game on Xbox. Players will be able to choose to be a hero or villain in the always-on game, partnering up with three AI companions or playing online with up to three friends. As with other first-party games on the system, SmartGlass will play a role, as well.
As seen in the debut trailer, you'll be able to play as a swordsman, a magician that can slow down time, a barbarian, or an archer vis-a-vis a third-person shooter.
In addition, you'll be able to play as the villain. "Instead of controlling a single character, you command the many creatures, traps, and environmental challenges that the Heroes must struggle to overcome," Lionhead teased in the announcement.
This being a Microsoft first-party game, there's extensive SmartGlass functionality as well. Using a tablet or smartphone will let you track game progress as a hero, learn more about quests, and more. However, as a villain, you'll be able to use SmartGlass as a second screen in your battle against heroes that may be playing on the main screen.
