King of Fighters 13 hits PC in September, beta starts next week

The brief appearance of a trailer on Steam for The King of Fighters XIII made it pretty clear it was coming to PC, so goodness knows why it was pulled. You can't punch the cat back into the bag. Still, now it's all official: SNK's kick-puncher is due on September 13.

The $30 PC edition comes complete with the console edition's three $5 DLC characters, Mr. Karate, Iori with the Power of Flames, and NESTS Style Kyo, its Steam store page explains. The game's only $24.99 to pre-order.

SNK's holding a small closed beta test from August 20 to 29, so sign up if you're interested.

Here's the trailer again, which curiously hasn't reappeared on Steam yet:

I may have to get a fightstick for this and Skullgirls. Are there any sticks that also work on PS3?

They only work with programs like motionjoy, but natively, they do not work like the 360 or Logitech controllers.

I use a DS3 for pretty much any game that allows a gamepad, and some that only allow partial support.

I don't think this is true. I think they had some incompatibilities with certain nvidia mobo chipsets at least previously:

I'm sorry, maybe I misunderstood.I thought you guys were wondering about the DS3 controller and not an actual fighting stick for PS3.

I don't know about using a PS3 fight stick on a PC,but like I said before, the DS3 will work on PS3 but you have to download and install MotionJoy in order for it to even work.

Actually there is a a better driver than the spyware that is motioninjoy. I forget what it's called but just google: alternative to motioninjoy.

I was about to say yes, but then I realized that my joystick is made from a broken dualshock 3. So i don't know about 3rd party stuff.

So you definitely want to research before you buy one. I know my Hori PS3 gamepad works on PC great, it's plug and play, so you might want to look into their PS3 fight sticks.

Hey man, smackpiece and I started playing the current xbox one a little more (but then his XBL subscription expired). We'll definitely be picking the new one for PS3 though. Stop by shackfighter when it comes out.

That would be awesome, but I don't know if Arc System Works feels up to it. Technically, the arcade system is Taito Type X, which runs on PC hardware running Windows XP Embedded, so the arcade version is technically PC Windows code.

I hope they do it; Skullgirls seemed to wake up interest in releasing fighting games on Steam.

The big news here, is the updated networking for the game. Supposedly, they have greatly enhanced the net code (basically the only thing people bitched about in the console versions). Really hope it turns out well because this game deserves it. Could really do big things for the KoF community.
