GameStop cross-gen promo lets you upgrade from Xbox 360 game to Xbox One for $10
GameStop is trying to tackle the cross-gen dilemma with a rather unique trade-in promo. By buying select cross-gen games on Xbox 360, customers will be able to "upgrade" to the Xbox One version for only $10.
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be out November 5th. Madden NFL 25 will be out August 27th. FIFA 14 will be out September 14th. Battlefield 4 will be out October 29th. And Assassin's Creed 4 will be out October 29th. But Xbox One will probably come after the release of these current-gen games. So that gives gamers a rather difficult choice: wait a few extra weeks for a next-gen version, or get started ASAP by buying current-gen?
GameStop is trying to tackle this cross-gen dilemma with a rather unique trade-in promo. By buying these cross-gen games on Xbox 360, customers will be able to "upgrade" to the Xbox One version for only $10.
"This is an amazing opportunity for our PowerUp members to enjoy their favorite Xbox 360 game until the Xbox One version becomes available," Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop, said in a press release.
The only games eligible for this offer are the ones mentioned above. Oddly, there is no PlayStation equivalent of this deal.
Of course, as with all things, there is some fine print. To take advantage of this offer, you'll need to be a PowerUp Rewards member and purchase the current-gen version at GameStop within 30 days of release. After purchase, a coupon for $50 trade-in credit towards the Xbox One version will be e-mailed to the account. The coupon expires on December 31, meaning you'll need to find and buy a next-gen system by the end of the year.
