PlayStation 4 streaming doesn't require Plus
PlayStation 4 won't require a Plus subscription to record and stream video, Sony has confirmed, after reports circulated that the Xbox One game DVR functionality will require Gold.
PlayStation 4 won't require a Plus membership for recording, streaming, and uploading game footage. Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that the functionality is in the system with or without a subscription, in response to questions following news that Xbox One's game DVR functions would require a Gold subscription.
Yoshida gave the responses directly to fans on Twitter, and his statements were later backed up by a UK spokesperson to Joystiq. PlayStation 4 will constantly record the last 15 minutes of gameplay in the background, which you can then edit or publish. You'll also be able to stream video of gameplay sessions live.
PlayStation Plus is required for multiplayer in non-free-to-play PS4 games. However, other online services, like accessing Netflix, do not require a subscription.

It seems like MS bet on the TV market not changing significantly in the next decade by including the TV overlay. If they believed we'd all be watching TV via the Internet there won't be much of a point having HDMI input. This sucks because the American TV market is horribly backwards with entrenched interests impeding progress.

It's designed to interface with cable boxes. We'll have to see but I have a hunch it won't interface with cable competitors like you mentioned because they see them as stealing their turf. It's the combination and integration of hdmi input, channel selection, and kinect voice control that makes the xb1 a transformative tv experience.

Yeah I'm not that into multiplayer gaming yet I've had plus for a while. It actually saved me quite a bit of money. Got a ton of dlc for the PS3 exclusives for free along with a ton of games I would have bought otherwise and then there's the massive amount of stuff I wouldn't have bought but got to enjoy because it was also free!

Me, I have no time for MP, I played MP like 5 times on the 360 and 0 on the PS3 there are a bunch in the same boat --> SP crew or don't have time.
I have a Plus sub and know what you mean most will play MP but I am sure there are SP peeps out there who don't like MP or have not time so this will be very welcome.
Its a good thing. -

To the people saying they only play MP on PCs, Sony says they are going to continue the free games every week into the PS4 era. I think early on you get Don't Starve and two other similar sized games, plus if you think you will order even just two or three games off the online store the discounts will pay for Plus. I thought Plus was poop at first, but once they got serious with it, it's an insane value. I never really play my PS3 online, but the "free" games have more than paid for my sub.

Wii U has some rad/solid games coming soon, just to bad the dates are un known or they are too far off.
I still have some hope in them, like I said a lot of games to look forward to, I just wish they where going to be released sooner. As well it be really good to announce a lot more games that are far off to keep the juice flowing.
We shall see what happens pretty much software is Ns only weapon they need to ramp the announcements up and releases, we will see if that gets improved.
