Microsoft wins Xbox One domains
Microsoft has won its legal wrangling to take control of the XboxOne.com and XboxOne.net domain names, making it the first manufacturer to own names associated with its next-gen console.
Microsoft has officially taken ownership of two disputed Xbox One domain names. Following the reveal of the console, the company filed a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum to obtain them from a resident of the UK.
That legal procedure has apparently worked, as Fusible reports that both domains have changed registrants to Microsoft. The Richard Law Group, which represents Microsoft in domain disputes, is listed as the administrative contact for the transfer. This includes both XboxOne.com and XboxOne.net.
Notably, this marks Microsoft as the first of the three manufacturers to secure a domain name associated with its next-gen console. Nintendo just recently lost its legal claim to the WiiU.com. Sony has not filed a complaint for PlayStation4.com, which currently redirects to a PlayStation news site.
